ABOUT ME: LONG TERM SOLO & BUDGET TRAVELER
Welcome to the about me page where you can learn about me; Amit the person and traveler
It seems I’ve lived two completely seperate lives – One pre travel and one post.
Even to this day I have to pinch myself sometimes. It’s crazy to think this life I live was once just a pipe dream. It was a far fetched fantasy I never imagined would become reality.
Yet here I am, this is what I do, long term solo travel & budget travel is my normal life now. For me holidays are when I return home to take a break from my traveling life – how insane is that statement, especially from life I came from pre traveling.

ABOUT ME: PRE TRAVEL LIFE
We all have a sob story
Here is mine in a snapshot
Born and raised poor, broken home, no hope to succeed in life. Flirted with crime in my teen years, with a huge chip and arrogance on my shoulder. Always had the world is against me attitude with anger issues. Was very single minded, very rarely took on board advice and always did things my way. Against the grain, self-centred, and with many insecurities. Wore many different metaphoric masks to hide my true self, only showed people what I wanted to show them.
I got to a stage where I just couldn’t take it anymore, I wanted more from life, was desperate to be free of the shackles and my own mentality. I dug deep, scratched and clawed, saved what ever I could muster, I didn’t care it wasn’t a lot (just £600 to be exact) and finally after years of procrastination just took the leap. At the time it felt like jumping off a cliff without a parachute. It was the scariest but best decision I ever made.
AND life changed forever
POST TRAVEL LIFE!
My life miraculously turned into a living highlight reel
Just like that with a click of a finger, as soon as I left England and started my nomadic life – life changed and for the better. I felt free of the shackles, the negativity and my life turned into a living highlight reel.
MY TRAVELING LIFE
With just £600 in my pocket I had no idea how long it would last. I was free though and that was the most liberating feeling I had ever felt. My initial funds ran out before I expected but there was no way I was going back home. I was lucky to learn from those around me, running out of money was just part of long term travel. I was able to replenish and although my life is never smooth, it was far better than my home life.
Ironically when my traveling life came crashing down around me, when I thought it was the end – It turned out to be just the beginning of my nomadic life.
From the moment I left England It’s been the most incredible and unpredictable time, experienced things I never thought possible, had my mind blown too many times and met the most incredible people along the way. It’s not all been smooth, I’ve had major bumps in the road, tough times I’ve even fallen out of love with it before, but we made up and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.
MY JOURNEY STARTED IN 2010
AUSTRALIA ON A WORKING HOLIDAY VISA BUT WITH JUST £600 TO MY NAME
AUSTRALIA (2 YEARS)
1 MONTH (MULTIPLE COUNTRIES)
The longest period was 6 and a half years without going home for more than a 6 month period. I had return on a few short visits but not for prolonged periods.
